An emergency food bank launched in Banbury a month ago has opened a new collection point at the Town Hall in Bridge Street.

The food bank was set up in mid-October to provide meals for families in crisis. Many people in town live below the poverty line and find it difficult to afford regular meals.

Pupils at Banbury’s Dashwood School have turned part of the town’s Spiceball Park into their own nature reserve.

On Thursday 24th November, a group of children from the Merton Street primary school planted 22 saplings that they hope will grow into their own wooded area.

The people’s winner

During the Art2 2011 North Oxfordshire open art exhibition at Banbury Museum and the Mill Arts Centre, visitors were invited to nominate their own favourite. The winner was “the Burn” by Ronny Loxton of Swalcliffe Lea. As well as the accolade Ronny received a cheque for £100. Her acrylic painting features a solitary Highland cow above misty morning valleys.
