Shaun Jardine explains … ‘In the 17th century, Oliver Cromwell, in a quest to end gluttony, banned the consumption of Christmas puddings and mince pies on Christmas Day. That little known law has never been repealed, so sadly you’ll have to either become a secret mince pie eater or postpone your fruity fest until Boxing Day.
