South Northamptonshire Council and Cherwell District Council work closely with our partners to make our districts a safe place to live.
We are looking for a Community Safety Officer to drive this area of work. This will include leading on the planning and delivery of a range of crime and disorder-related projects and promoting effective joint working between stakeholders and partners. You will also represent the Councils at various partnership meetings, often as the chair, and oversee their administration and coordination.
You will have experience of partnership working, preferably in a community safety environment, and must be able to work and communicate confidently with the public, elected members and partners. You will need strong written and oral communication skills and be able to understand, analyse and explain complex issues. You will be required to write and prepare investigative reports, statements and prosecution case files. You will have experience of working in an office environment and will be able to use Microsoft Office
You will be required to take part in enforcement operations, manage a case load and deal with a range of issues including antisocial behaviour. Some experience of enforcement is therefore essential. Applicants with a criminology, community safety or similar degree may also be considered in lieu of enforcement experience.
The role will be based mainly at Towcester South Northamptonshire. However you may be called upon to work in Cherwell Oxfordshire, therefore the ability to travel across a wide geographical area in a timely and flexible manner at various times of the day is essential.
