An exciting opportunity has arisen to be part of the joint development management service between Cherwell District and South Northamptonshire Councils.
The areas are facing high levels of growth and the Councils have ambitious plans for the future. Both districts have adopted Local Plans and are seeing historic levels of housing delivery and employment growth. The two Districts include iconic venues such as Silverstone circuit, Bicester Village, four market towns and current and former military bases all of which are growing in different ways. The two Districts form part of the emerging Oxford to Cambridge Corridor and have a great track record of supporting innovative housing schemes, (including developing the largest self-build housing site in the country), urban renewal and a sensitivity to historic character as new places are forged.
Based at Bodicote House near Banbury, but with potential to work from both Council headquarters, the post holder will deal with a range of minor and other applications and pre-applications.
• You will have been educated to at least A level standard with 0-3 years planning technical support experience; or will have completed at least your 1st year of an RTPI accredited part-time “combined” or “spatial” undergraduate degree.
• Experience of dealing with minor, householder and other planning applications and knowledge of current planning legislation, guidance and statutory procedures is desirable.
• You should have good interpersonal and communications skills, oral and written; well organized with the ability to work under your own initiative and as part of team; a flexible approach to workload; able to work under pressure; and have a current full driving license.
