Avocet Theatre Company Present Snow White

Snow White: A Musical Pantomime.

Banbury’s most ambitious panto group return with their unique brand of humour to present Snow White: A Musical Pantomime. Combining the much loved story with famous songs, the show is sure to be a hit with adults and children alike!

Based on the original story by the Brothers Grimm, Snow White is the well-known tale of a young princess whose wicked stepmother casts her out when she learns that she is the more beautiful of the two.

Pantomime director Ben Coleman said;

“This is without a doubt one of the most ambitious pantomimes Banbury has ever seen.

“No expense has been spared and the scale is that of a full musical!”

For 3 nights only!

Expect all your favourite panto magic, music and mayhem in this classic tale with a modern twist!

  • March 28 – March 29 – March 30.
  • Curtain up at 7.30 pm.
  • Tickets price at £10 adults/£8 concessions
  • Venue: Wykham Theatre, Ruskin Road, Banbury OX16 9HY

Tickets available online on the Avocet Theatre Company website http://www.avocettheatre.co.uk/tickets

The group has also continued their mission to keep ticket prices as low as possible.

Mr Coleman added;

“Theatre is expensive to produce. It often costs many thousands of pounds to stage an amateur production but our aim is for theatre to be accessible to all ages.

“We find it such a shame that some cannot watch shows because they feel excluded by the price! We want to make sure theatre is affordable for the whole family and have kept the costs as low as we can!

“ATC is run by volunteers, with all profits going towards the production.”

Avocet Theatre Company was formed after the passing of local pantomime regular, Tom Greening, who had originally founded St John’s Drama Group in 2006. The group was closed in his memory and reformed as Avocet Theatre Company. Since its reinvention, the group has taken on new and varied challenges to offer its members experiences not offered anywhere else in Banbury.

Following the huge success of Jack & the Beanstalk: A Musical-Pantomime, the group have continued to go from strength to strength producing shows and events such as The Winter Wonderland Christmas Market, The Not-So-Royal Variety Performance and Disney’s The Little Mermaid Jr.

The group has even begun to produce their own web-series!

Ben, who writes and produces the series said;

“Acting Out is a mockumentary, similar to The Office, about a dysfunctional Drama Group that is (very loosely!) based on our experiences.

“It began as a one off film, however, the response from viewers was completely overwhelming and so we have just finished writing episode 2. It’s a comedy aimed towards adults and we hope to release more episodes every year. You can watch online.”

Avocet Theatre Company is open to anyone aged 8 to 80 and promises to be unlike any other group in the area.

Ben said;

“We have lots of big plans to give our members a chance to be part of something truly unique.

“After the pantomime, we will be working on our next exciting youth only show which we have just confirmed will be Elf The Musical Jr which will be open to anyone aged 8 to 18 and take place in December!

Anyone who wishes to join us should check out our website or follow us on Facebook.”

Previous Avocet Theatre Company productions and events include Jack & the Beanstalk: A Musical Pantomime, The Little Mermaid Jr. Winter Wonderland (in partnership with Banbury Academy), The Not-So-Royal Variety Performance, Acting Out (the webseries) and many more.
