It’s twilight time in Banbury Town
This street has lost its buzz
This was a busy High Street
Not anymore because.
Way back in the sixties
We had service men galore
Lots and lots of punch ups
Lots and lots of Law.
Tobacco smoke was in the air
Girls on the G I’s arm
Our boys they didn’t like it
It wasn’t always calm.
Close your eyes imagine
Winter Gardens on the left
A Garage where the Chemist was
But here’s how things progressed.
Lots of cars a busy street
Zig Zag lines and Rails
Crossings for to cross with
This street could tell some tales.
Tonight it’s very quiet
The Cross still has its fame
The years pass by so quickly
Nothing stays the same.
