750 comics up for grabs as Comic Connections celebrates FCBD 2018

Comic Connections to give away hundreds of FREE COMICS on the 5th May 2018.

  • 750 comics up for grabs as Comic Connections celebrates FCBD 2018.
  • A wide range of titles to choose from – there’s something for everyone.

Comic Connections – Oxfordshire’s longest running comic-book shop – is suiting up and getting ready to give away hundreds of comics to comic-book fans and the curious on Saturday the 5th May which marks Free Comic Book Day 2018.

Free Comic Book Day is a worldwide celebration held annually on the first Saturday in May. Comic Connections, upstairs at 4a on Parsons Street, will be giving away free comics from its shop between 10:00-17:00 while stocks last.

Sid Beckett, Manager of Comic Connections, said:

“Who doesn’t love a freebie? Free Comic Book Day is an annual event for comic book shops to celebrate the awesome medium of comics. It’s the perfect opportunity to introduce family and friends to the world of comics and support your local comic-book shop.”

Comic-book fans can pop by Comic Connections and grab one of the special Free Comic Book Day titles for free. Those who support the store and purchase something on the day will be rewarded with another free comic.

2018 free comics include: Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers Special, Avengers Captain America, DC Superhero Girls, Pokemon, Riverdale, Transformers Unicron and many more, but once they’re gone; they’re gone!

About Comic Connections

Comic Connections is Oxfordshire’s longest running comic-book shop.

The store opened originally in Calthorpe Street before moving to George Street in 1996. The store survived the great 90s comic recession, the near bankruptcy of Marvel comics (as well as the shambles of Marvel’s own Heroes World distribution), and the Great Pokémon Gold-Rush of 98 / 99. In 2000 the store moved to a bigger (and its current) premise in Parson’s Street.

In 2017 original owner Glyn Smith decided to take a backseat and appointed Sid Beckett as manager of the store.

Comic Connections has since teamed up with Leamington Spa’s pop-up comic shop (Spa Town Comics) who also organise the Town’s award-winning comic-book convention, Leam Comic Con, to streamline operations, offer greater choice for customers and to build a great community buzz around the already exciting hobby of comic-books!

Address and details of opening hours on the day:

4a Parsons Street, Banbury, OX16 5LW. The store will be open from 10:00 – 17:00 on Saturday 5th of May 2018. The store will be giving away special Free Comic Book titles during the day while stocks last.
