The ever popular Banbury and District Show is a great taster of life in Banburyshire

The ever popular Banbury and District Show is a great taster of life in Banburyshire.

The annual Banbury and District Show on Sunday (9 June) will see Spiceball Park become the scene of exciting arena entertainment, thrilling rides, sideshows, displays, exhibitions and charity stalls – all providing first class entertainment and activities for men, women and children.

And the park’s new ultra-modern skate ramp will be opened – making it the most spectacular amenity for skateboarders and BMX riders for many miles around.

Organised by Banbury Town Council, the show is free admission and will run from 10.30am to 4.30pm.

A new show attraction for 2019.

This year will be a 65-metre zip wire – and in the main arena BMX bikers will perform gravity-defying stunts.

Other main arena attractions will include a gun dog display and marching bands.

A spectacular funfair will provide all-day rides and food and drink stalls will satisfy most people’s appetites. Go-karts, inflatables, ferret racing, beer tent and an archery range are other attractions.

A giant marquee will house a mini-food fair in which artisan food and drink producers will offer their wares and another marquee will be home to an art festival in which visitors will see finished paintings and artists at work.

Health and wellbeing stalls will be in a third marquee.

Regular favourites including a climbing wall will return. There will be farm animals to stroke and a dog show will thrill pet lovers. A second arena will be devoted to music and dance.

Cllr Colin Clarke, chairman of the council’s general services committee, said:

“The district show is a great favourite for many people and this year could well be the best yet. There some fabulous new attractions and we’ve invited back some popular regulars.

“This year the opening of the new skate ramp will be a special occasion. I know that many people have been looking forward to using the new facility.”
