Do you know a young person who knows their technology backwards? Someone who’s aged 16-19? Or maybe you are that person?
Do you think they could use a top of the range, powerful Microsoft Surface Pro 4 – the laptop that doubles as a tablet and is more powerful than most desktops? With a Pebble Smartwatch thrown in?
Oxfordshire-based IT services company MirrorSphere are offering this amazing prize to young people who can demonstrate they have the capability to become a Future Tech Star.
“There are so many good things that can come out of running the Future Tech Star competition,”
“As an Oxfordshire company we want to support the growth of technology skills throughout the county and the region.”
“We want to give something back to the community and at the same time inspire young people to get more involved in the nitty gritty of making tech do great things. We want to help the next generation become more employable and equip them with the skills that future tech use will need.”
To do this the team have launched the hunt to find the MirrorSphere Future Tech Star 2016. The lucky winner will get a Microsoft Surface Pro 4 tablet, with keyboard and Office software, along with a Pebble Steel smartwatch – a prize valued at over £1,500.
Boys and girls aged between 16 and 19 on the closing date (June 27th 2016) just have to fill in a simple entry form and tell MirrorSphere what they’ve been doing with technology.
“It could be a school or college project, or something they are doing as a hobby, either on their own or with friends or family,”
“It doesn’t necessarily have to be in-depth programming, but it has to show in-depth use of technology, not just downloading apps and using them.”
“The great thing about technology today is that it’s so easy to use, especially with the emergence of iPhones and tablets over the last ten years or so. But the downside is that kids aren’t learning what’s underneath the touchscreens.”
MirrorSphere offers IT support and solutions to enable its customers to save time and money on their business IT needs.
“We cover companies that aren’t big enough to justify in-house technical support and management, but need someone to be on the end of the phone or to come in at a moment’s notice to offer advice and fix any issues”
“Companies like ours need real technical skills so we’re doing what we can to encourage young people to find out what’s under the bonnet. This will be an annual competition, so we hope that over the years the competition itself will drive more young people to go deeper into technology.”.
“We’re very excited about the entries – we have no idea what to expect! And that’s part of the attraction of the competition,”
