Oxfordshire is set to host the OVO Energy Women’s Tour for the next three years, starting with the county’s first-ever stage on Wednesday 12 June. Cherwell District Council will be working collaboratively with Oxfordshire County Council and four other councils to bring Britain’s leading professional women’s cycle race to the county and showcase the best Oxfordshire has to offer.
“We are delighted to have secured the OVO Energy Women’s Tour for our communities over the next three years. It gives us the opportunity to promote the benefits of active, healthy lifestyles to our residents whilst bringing economic prosperity to the district at the same time.”
Stage three will start in Henley-on-Thames, offering a warm welcome to families and cycling fans with the Big Bike Breakfast, and finishes at one of the country’s most iconic locations, Blenheim Palace.
Spectators are invited to line the route, visit the finish line to cheer on competitors and soak up the atmosphere at this exciting sporting event. A series of rolling road closures will be in operation during this stage as roads on the route will be closed for the short time it takes for the race to pass.

Featuring a roll call of former champions including British world champion Lizzie Deignan and Marianne Vos, one of the greatest riders of all time, the competitors will race for the line in the grounds of Blenheim Palace.
The event is free to watch as tickets are not required to enter the grounds between 12 noon and 4 pm.
All the councils involved are expecting to see a boost in the local economy and will be working to create a lasting legacy, promoting the health, travel and the environmental benefits of cycling and exercise, inspiring everyone across the county to get active.
