Residents are being reminded that three consultations that will help shape development in Cherwell are drawing to a close on 9 January.
Cherwell District Council is currently consulting on three planning policy documents: The Partial Review of Local Plan Part 1 Options Paper, The Community Infrastructure Levy Draft Charging Schedule (CIL) and The Draft Developer Contributions Supplementary Planning Document (SPD).
The Partial Review Options Paper considers how Cherwell should help provide for Oxford’s unmet housing need, with discussion of which parts of the district would be best suited to accommodate a further 4,400 homes.
The CIL and SPD relate to proposals for how housing developers should contribute to the costs of building new infrastructure, such as provision for recreation, healthcare, transport, the arts and biodiversity, as new homes go up across the district.
“As these three consultations draw to a close, we are keen to get the responses of as many residents as possible.
“Cherwell is working to fulfil its obligation to collaborate with Oxford and other neighbouring districts to provide for Oxford’s unmet housing need. The Partial Review of the adopted Local Plan will help Cherwell stay in control of where those houses will be built.
“The consultations on infrastructure funding are important to ensure that, as new developments go up, they are supported by appropriate provision for recreation, healthcare and transport. The documents are available on Cherwell’s website as well as at libraries and council offices throughout Cherwell district and Oxford city.”
Cherwell’s public notices of the three consultations provide details of where to obtain hard copies of the papers. These, and summary documents, are available via the below link.
People can download the document entitled “Representation Form” via the same web page to return their responses.
For clarification and more information on how to comment on the published consultation documents, please contact the planning policy team at or 01295 227985.
Completed representations should be sent to before the deadline of 11.59pm on Monday, 9 January.
The notices, consultation papers and other key documents are all available at: www.cherwell.gov.uk/planningpolicyconsultation
