Music, dance, and street food for Banbury Old Town Spring Party

More than 25 independent businesses and community organisations from around Banbury town centre will take their trade and talents out onto the streets for the Old Town Spring Party on Saturday May 7th.

Independent shops, cafe’s, pubs, and restaurants will be adding to the party spirit by trading outside on the day along Parsons Street, Church Lane, Church Walk and into White Lion Walk, High Street and Market Place.

They’ll be joined by street performers, musicians, artists and teams from community groups, organisations and venues including Purtans Radio, Visit Banbury, Banbury and Bicester College, Banbury Town Council, The Mill Arts Centre, Banbury Museum and Joanne Mills School of Dance.

A number of the newer businesses to open in the town centre will be taking part in their first Old Town Party including Hoops Donuts and Coffee, Banbury South African Store, and El Safina Coffee House.

Banbury-Old-Town-Party

Organised jointly by Banbury Town Council and Banbury Old Town Association with support from Cherwell District Council, Banbury and Bicester College, Castle Quay Shopping Centre, Sketts, Your Letterbox and Banbury’s town team co-ordinators, the Old Town Spring Party is the first of two in the year designed to showcase the great mix of shops and hospitality businesses in Banbury town centre.

The event’s theme is HM the Queen’s 90th birthday celebrations, and the businesses and organisations taking part have been challenged to tie their trading in with that, including those taking part in the best dressed window competition.

Ann Sewell, Banbury Town Council’s events manager, says:

“The party will add some fun to the day’s shopping. There will be something for everyone and it will be great to see the old streets and lanes packed with shoppers. Thanks must go to Cherwell District Council for their continued support and generous sponsorship of this event and indeed all other event sponsors. This is another example of businesses and community pulling together for their town.”
