Tractors prepare to light up the streets for Christmas!

One of the most spectacular sights of the year.

It’s nearly time for the most talked about Christmas spectacle as local Agricultural Contracting business RC Baker Ltd are once again preparing to light up the streets for a fourth year running with a fairy lit convoy of tractors on Thursday 19th December 2019.

The festive fleet will depart from Spring Hill Farm in Barford St Michael and will take to the roads travelling through the villages of South Newington, Milcombe, Bloxham, Milton, Adderbury, Deddington, Hempton and back through Barford St Michael.

What originally began as a small event of twenty-six tractors in 2016, the festive fleet has since steadily grown in numbers each year reaching seventy-nine tractors taking part in 2018 thanks to the amazing support from the farming community who travelled far and wide to take part.

Commercial Manager and Director for the company Jennie Steenkamp said;

‘‘Last year we reached an all-time high with seventy-nine tractors which was an amazing sight. There is already so much excitement surrounding this year’s event on social media so the pressure is on to see if we can top last year’s figures and put on the best festive display for the public!’’

The annual event has so far raised over £11,000 in total for Katharine House Hospice thanks to the generosity of the public, support of local businesses such as Banbury Co-operative Funeralcare and help from volunteers.

RC Baker Ltd are encouraging all local farmers and owners of tractors to take part in this year’s tractor run for just £15 per tractor.

If you would like to catch a glimpse of the festive fleet, the planned route can be seen on the Facebook tractor run group so that you can plan your prime viewing spot as the convoy passes through a village near you.

RC Baker Ltd also invite you to come and see the fairy-lit fleet after their tour from 6.30pm at Spring Hill Farm, OX15 0PL for a drink and a mince pie.

If you would like to join the fleet you can sign up online by calling the office on 01869 338307.

This year, RC Baker Ltd will once again be auctioning off a passenger seat in one of their festive fleet tractors to the highest bidder with funds raised going to Katharine House Hospice..
